My Approach
As a clinician who utilizes various frameworks, I recognize that each individual's treatment goals vary and therefore I must be flexible in my approach as well. While often working from a psychodynamic framework, I incorporate CBT skills, DBT skills, motivational interviewing, and assorted techniques from my trainings. I often use these to work with the client on getting to the root issue.
At times, I provide work for clients to do outside of sessions, emphasizing that the work doesn't stop when the session ends. Often-times, some of a client's best work is done after the session is over. I encourage clients to continue processing and explore what they have discovered in future sessions.
I find that my approach is relaxed and warm, while also being direct when needed. Building rapport and a good working relationship is also emphasized in my counseling style. I believe that a strong relationship is the foundation for any successful outcome. As a therapist, I take pride in patience, meeting a person where they are at in their journey, and supporting them as they find peace along the way.
